Estrogens and Breast Cancer

For many years women were told that Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) offered as Estrogen Therapy (ET) or a combination of Estrogen and Progesterone (Hormone Therapy or HT) was the easy way to avoid any symptoms of the menopause. Women were given either natural or synthetic hormones to reduce hot flashes, headaches, moodiness, insomnia, and vaginal dryness.

Resveratrol May Prevent Breast Cancer

Research has shown that resveratrol may prevent estrogen from forming tumors which lead to breast cancer. While more testing is required, early results are very promising.

High Intake of Fruits and Vegetables May Lower Risk of Breast Cancer Relapse

The protective effects in one’s diet of particular fruits and vegetables that offers against cancer may intuitively seem to apply more to cancers that are related to the gastrointestinal tract, such as colon cancer, stomach cancer or intestinal cancer. On the other hand, for certain cancers, like those of the ovaries, prostate and breasts, one may be more inclined to believe that hormones play a bigger part.

Breast Cancer - Signs & Symptoms

Breast cancer is the cancer of the cells in the breast. This disease afflicts both men and women, though it is 100 times more frequent in women than in men. The survival rate is the same in both the sexes, though. It can be scary for anyone, as it is a potentially fatal disease.

Male Breast Cancer - An Under-recognised Disease

Male Breast Cancer is an under-recognised disease and is just as dangerous for men as it is for women. It’s rare in men but one thousand men are diagnosed yearly with having male breast cancer. Although more women are diagnosed yearly with breast cancer, the risk of a man dying with breast cancer is higher. This is because men tend to wait too long to seek medical help and so when diagnosed, the cancer is too advanced for successful treatment. The largest age group of men afflicted are between sixty and seventy years old.

Breast Cancer Nutrition - An Important Role in the Prevention of Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer Recurrence - Death & Vitamin D

Based upon recent clinical research findings, Vitamin D is the only remaining vitamin that may have significant cancer and cardiovascular disease prevention properties. Recent large-scale prospective randomized clinical research trials have not only failed to identify a cancer prevention role (beyond a healthy balanced diet) for Vitamin E, Vitamin C, folate, and beta-carotene (a member of the Vitamin A family) supplements, but data from these trials have strongly suggested an increased risk of adverse health outcomes, at least in some sub-groups of patients, with supplements of several of these vitamins.

One particular cancer frequently occurs with women: Breast cancer. Although breast cancer is closely associated with women, there have been accounts of men having breast cancer as well. The occurrence of breast cancer in women is 100% more likely than that of males however survival rates are equal for both sexes.
